Beautiful Illustrations bring stories to life and help grow the love of reading in young children. This month has been Woman’s Month in South Africa and so it’s a pleasure to introduce you to Little Zebra Books intern Monique!
“Hi, I am Monique – a digital artist, 2D animator and now, an aspiring illustrator. As a child, drawing has always been my passion, spending countless hours and days dabbling. My best childhood memories are of drawing, watching animated shows and playing video games which transported me into a world of wonder, fantasy, and epic adventures.
As a teen, besides drawing and gaming, I have spent the rest of my free time reading – be it fictional stories on the net, graphic novels or manga. That’s when I fell in love with storytelling through illustration! After studying 2D animation, I did a short course in children’s illustration. The latter is what brought me to Little Zebra Books where I am now, being taught the ways of being an illustrator. Thus far, the journey has been most valuable but when it comes to art, the journey never ends and there are always new things to learn.”
Monique has been a joy to work with and her growth has been exponential. She takes up challenges, exceeding our expectations in what she has delivered. During August, she has tackled her biggest Little Zebra Books assignment yet and we are excited for you to see some of what she has produced. We believe that her future as an artist and illustrator will be bright!
